A former Ventura County deputy sheriff has been sentenced to 41 months in prison for violating federal laws, including seven counts of filing false income tax returns between 1994 and 2000, officials said this morning. Patrick J. Dain, 49, of Camarillo, was sentenced Monday afternoon in United States District Court, federal officials said. Dain was also convicted of obstructing the administration of Internal Revenue Service laws and impeding IRS officers in the performance of their duties, authorities said. An IRS spokesman said Dain threatened an IRS officer, said he didn’t want the agent’s “family hurt” and threatened to arrest the agent if the agent went to his house.
